India
In a few days, I am off to India (March 20 - April 1). While there, I will train church and mission leaders - many of whom are new converts from the most oppressive Hinduism. I will be going to the state of Orissa, in southeast India. It has a population of 34 million, which is roughly the same as Canada. It is the second poorest state in the India and the place where Christians are most persecuted. There are apparently more religious shrines in Orissa than in the rest of India. From our perspective, it is the 'heart of darkness'.
This mission trip was postponed earlier because of the current sectarian violence against Christians. It is hoped that this trip will be the first of many, where I will equip leaders in the charismatic dimensions of ministry and the centrality of the 'new covenant of grace,' as they say. Both of which are profoundly relevant to counteract the damage done through the oppressive caste system.
I have been urged to solicit prayer protection. That is what I now do. Paul said, "On him we set our hope that he will continue to deliver us as you help us by your prayers." IICorinthians 1:10-11 My effectiveness depends much on your prayers. I should have an interesting report for you in a few weeks.
Peace and all good,
Ken
England
I recently returned from England where I trained leaders associated with New Wine and Soul Survivor. I have spoken of them before, but allow me to jog your memory. New Wine is an Anglican renewal group that gathers tens of thousands of people each summer for teaching and networking. Soul Survivor is the amazing youth movement that arouse out of the New Wine ministry. Last summer I taught at Soul Survivor. There were over 20,000 in attendance. This coming July and August thousands of Soul Survivor youth will descend on some of the poorer neighborhoods of London to do repairs, paint, and haul trash. The evenings will be spent in the parks of central London for huge worship and evangelism events.
I love being associated with these audacious visionaries. May this phenomenon spread to many other parts of the world. I believe the youth of the western world are ripe.
Texas
On the way to Englad, I stopped off in Dallas to lecture at Baylor Medical School. I was invited by doctors who are reading my book, Authority to Heal. They were very open and especially wanted to know how to pray for patients while functioning as medical professionals in life and death situations. It was very interesting, to say the least.
